BeGas participates in the development of an H2 ICE for use as an auxiliary power unit

BeGas is participating in the development of a H2 ICE hydrogen combustion engine to be used as an auxiliary power unit. The objective of the project is to advance towards greater technological maturity of aeronautical auxiliary power generation systems based on the use of hydrogen.

The project is being carried out by a consortium formed by four companies: Industria de Turbo Propulsores, S.A., Airbus Operations, S.L., Empresarios Agrupados Internacional, S.A. and BeGas Motor, S.L. Technology and research centres such as the CMT (Clean Mobility & Thermofluids) of the Polytechnic University of Valencia, the Department of Aerospace Engineering of the Carlos III University of Madrid, the Department of Aerospace Propulsion of the Polytechnic University of Madrid, the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, the Advanced Centre for Aerospace Technologies (CATEC) and the Aeronautical Technology Centre Foundation (CTA) are also participating in the R&D process.

This development is subsidised by the National Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, and financed through the Next Generation EU funds, by the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism of the European Union, which will be managed through CDTI by means of the Aeronautical Technology Plan 2023.
