  • Since January of last year, these companies have been promoting the decarbonisation of professional urban transport through the use of autogas and bioautogas, which allow obtaining the ECO label from the DGT and can reduce particle emissions by 99% and NOx by up to 96%, and net CO2 emissions by up to 90% in the case of bioautogas

Madrid, February 14, 2024.
The Association of Coach Companies Direbús Spain is organizing the III National Congress of SMEs in Road Transport and Passenger Mobility, which will take place on February 21 and 23 at the FICOBA Exhibition and Congress Center in the municipality of Irún (Guipúzcoa). This sector event aims to promote a space for opinion, debate and proposals for improvement for the sector, which is why various technical round tables led by experts in each of the subjects will also be held.

This year, it is worth highlighting the participation of Cepsa, an energy company committed to sustainable mobility, and BeGas, a European leader in the manufacture and development of engines powered by alternative energies, which will present one of the most viable and competitive solutions for decarbonization in the sector.
Cepsa and BeGas will offer the presentation ‘Bioautogas as a vector of decarbonization in transport: horizon 2050’. In addition, they will have a stand where they will display the BeGas Euro VI Step E engines powered 100% by autogas or bioautogas for heavy urban transport and will exhibit a re-motorised vehicle with a bioautogas engine. BeGas technology is available in power ratings ranging from 110 to 320 hp and can be installed in professional urban transport vehicles, such as buses, coaches and minibuses.
Cepsa will also have another stand where the advantages of STARRESSA will be presented, its area specialised in professional clients, through which the company offers different complementary services, such as emissions compensation, electronic tolls or personalised discounts to its professional road passenger transport clients.

The energy company will also present different solutions to make it easier for its professional clients to decarbonise their activity, such as 100% renewable diesel (HVO), which the company has begun to supply both at its service stations and directly at the facilities of several companies.
Cepsa and BeGas have also jointly designed a comprehensive offering that includes an innovative heavy vehicle re-motorisation service and the supply of alternative fuel. This involves replacing diesel engines with a BeGas engine powered by Cepsa autogas or bioautogas, which makes a significant contribution to reducing emissions and meeting the decarbonisation objectives promoted by the European Commission, allowing the Eco-DGT environmental badge to be obtained. In this regard, since 2023, Cepsa and BeGas have been promoting an alliance for the decarbonisation of professional urban transport through the use of bioautogas, which has been joined by other partners such as Urbaser, Aebi Schmidt Ibérica, Sulo, Herko Trucks, Buxo Trucks, Socage, Mobility Bus, Revenant and ANEPMA (National Association of Public Environmental Companies).

Pedro Silva, CEO of BeGas, says that “it is very important for us to have a space like this to show small and medium-sized passenger transport companies an alternative to extend the useful life of their vehicles, contributing to the circular economy and the drastic reduction of pollution in cities, while saving costs.”
For his part, Marcos Pallás, Marketing Manager GLP at Cepsa, “collaboration between the different agents in the transport sector throughout the entire value chain is essential to achieve decarbonisation objectives. At Cepsa we want to accompany our clients in the energy transition and that is why we present different solutions that adapt to their needs.”
Juan Manuel Sierra, head of the Institutional Relations department at Direbús and Director of the Congress, believes that the participation of Cepsa and BeGas in the III National Congress of SMEs in Transport and Passenger Mobility by Road provides “informtion to the operators of other ecological motorisation solutions that really fit in with the three segments of transport activity, maintaining the conviction that the sector has always been environmentally sustainable”.

BeGas is a technology-based and research-based company founded in 2015. Since its inception, it has sought to contribute to a sustainable future in the transport of people and goods. And this future involves society, its investors, customers and suppliers and, of course, its employees. For this reason, it manufactures 100% BioAutogas or Euro VI-E liquid injection liquefied Autogas engines. BeGas continues to position itself as one of the main options for the decarbonisation of heavy urban vehicles.

Direbús España is a national Business Organisation representing SMEs in the Public Services Sector for Discretionary and Regular Road Passenger Transport, currently representing over 700 affiliated companies providing road transport services throughout the country in all Autonomous Communities. This accredits us, according to the recognition of the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, as a full member association of the National Committee for Road Transport, to promote agreements with other associations and federations, make proposals to Public Institutions, have sufficient legitimacy granted to participate in the negotiating tables of sectoral collective agreements, and actively participate in the decision-making carried out by them, for the benefit of the rights and interests of the sector of which we are a part.

Cepsa is a leading international company committed to sustainable mobility and energy with solid technical experience after more than 90 years of activity. The company also has a world-leading chemical business with an increasingly sustainable activity.
Through its 2030 strategic plan, Positive Motion, Cepsa projects its ambition to be a leader in sustainable mobility, biofuels and green hydrogen in Spain and Portugal, and to become a benchmark for the energy transition. The company places customers at the centre of its activity and will work with them to help them advance their decarbonisation goals.
ESG criteria inspire all of Cepsa’s actions to advance towards its net positive goal. Over the course of this decade, it will reduce its Scope 1 and 2 CO2 emissions by 55% and its carbon intensity index by 15-20%, with the aim of achieving net zero emissions before 2050.
